STEM Education: Being a Woodrow Wilson Fellow
In June 2011 I was awarded WK Kellogg Woodrow Wilson Fellowship to attend Grand Valley State University. The purpose of the fellowship was to bring content experts working in industry, academia, or other professional fields into high-needs schools to provide quality instruction to those who need it most.
The program offers an intense curriculum and rigorous field experiences focused on integrating fellows' backgrounds in research, pedagogical training through GVSU, and a clinical experiences in high-needs schools in West Michigan.

Bringing science into the classroom
As a Woodrow Wilson Fellow I brought my experiences as a researcher in Alaska into the classroom. This included developing a hands-on experience in arctic ecology for my students and collaborating with other members of GVSU's Arctic Ecology Program.
